From the Future
Future Network Holiday Specials
Ah, the holiday season. A time to gather with family and re-establish old ties. And once you've all run out of things to talk about, you can gather around the warm glowing warming glow of the television and ignore each other in favour of some Christmas special or other. But what (and who) will you be watching in the years to come? Fametracker has travelled to the future in order to bring you this forecast.
2002: O Come Let Us Adore Him, starring Jessica Simpson
America's favourite Christian pop songstress comes alive in this thrilling Christmas special, exclusive to the PAX network. In this hour-long showcase, Simpson displays her many talents: singing (both traditional carols like "Silent Night" and contemporary hits like "Santa Baby"), acting (in hilarious yet tasteful comedy skits with guest stars like Victoria Jackson and Joe Piscopo), and even demonstrating her most beloved Christmas recipes (with The Brady Bunch's Ann B. Davis). And unlike the secular holiday specials so many other networks produce, O Come Let Us Adore Him is firmly grounded in Miss Simpson's firm Christianity -- and the hip-hugging trousers don't hurt, either! Join Jessica and her celebrity friends as we adore him, Christ the Lord!

Why not?
2003: Christmas Comes to Cleveland, starring Drew Carey
In Christmas Comes to Cleveland -- a delightful homage, in stop-motion animation, the the classic Rankin/Bass Christmas special, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer -- sitcom star Drew Carey provides the voice talent for the mischievous city raccoon, the narrator of our tale. City living is a hardscrabble existence for wildlife like pigeons, seagulls, rats -- and, of course, raccoons -- but does the advent of the holiday season bring any changes that improve the lot of these transplanted, scrappy creatures? With songs, dance numbers, and illustrative vignettes, Christmas Comes to Cleveland dramatizes the sights, sounds, and smells of the holidays from the point of view of the scavenger species that scamper among us daily, without our even noticing them. Who knows -- maybe after watching this charming special, you'll purposely leave a full bag of open garbage out on your front porch to attract some of these furry or feathered friends into your life!
2004: Carson Daly's New Year's Rockin' Eve
While we were all saddened by the sudden and untimely death of Dick Clark earlier this year, that's no reason for the holiday tradition he started so many years ago. And who better to take over the reins than Carson Daly, the millennial equivalent of Dick Clark himself? America's NEW oldest teenager presides over the festivities as he does away with the old and rings in the new with the help of Ricky Martin, Céline Dion, Tom Arnold, Sum 41, Tony Bennett, Beverley Mitchell, and many more! You won't want to miss the moment when Carson counts down that great big ball in New York's Times Square -- right near the MTV offices where he used to work!
2005: A California Christmas, starring Jada Pinkett Smith
Live With Regis and Jada co-host Jada Pinkett Smith may live and work in New York, but her heart's still back home in Los Angeles. In her first-ever TV special, join Jada as she sits down for a casual gab with her California gal pals Anne Heche, Vivica A. Fox, Vanessa Williams, and Melissa Rivers. What's it like to celebrate Christmas without snow? What's the best way to prepare turkey, California-style? And is that whole Kwanzaa thing ever really going to catch on? Freed from the restrictions of sharing airspace with Regis and Gelman, Jada will show there's more to her journalistic skills than you see when she's perched on that little old stool. It'll be a frank, revealing, and above all sassy California Christmas to cherish with your whole family.
