Gap-Toothed Jenny, And Other "Unattractive" Dramedy Pitches
Last week's strong début for ABC's Ugly Betty proves, despite all conventional TV wisdom, that there is a market for shows featuring characters who are not entirely pleasing to the eye. Though it's still too early to tell whether Betty's numbers will stay as voluptuous in the coming weeks and months, rival network executives -- never ones to let pass an opportunity to emulate another show's success -- are already mulling their own dramedic takes on plain yet plucky female characters trying to make it in the world.
