On the one hand, Kate Hudson's been the beneficiary of one of the more shameless starmaking campaigns in recent memory, and she will probably grab an Oscar nomination for Almost Famous. On the other hand, beneficiaries of shameless starmaking campaigns often come to naught (Matthew McConaughey, Gretchen Mol), as do generation-next celebrity striplings (Liv Tyler, Josh Brolin). On the third hand, she's up against Chris Robinson, so why are we even having this debate? Marrying Kate Hudson is the best thing to happen to Chris Robinson, fame-wise, since that cover of "Hard to Handle." As for Ms. Hudson: When your husband owns more hair brushes and fine washables than you do, you know there's going to be trouble.
