Inside the Extra's Studio: Bit Players from Invincible Talk About Their Characters
Dominick Cicco: "South Philly Man"
"That's who I am. I'm a South Philly man. That's just what I'm about. You don't even need to ask, 'What's this character about?' Because it's right there in my name. I'm a South Philly Man. I love cheesesteak. I love the Eagles. I love the Liberty Bell. I love football. I love Philly, but only the southern region of Philly. I have a penis. That's it."
Rick Reilly: "Disgruntled Fan"
"You know, this guy likes football, and he really likes the Eagles. But I think he has some questions about the team's direction. That's really all I thought about it, because I'm a famous sportswriter just doing a cameo."
Jimmy Graham III: "Dour Fan"
"Now, my guy, he's more than disgruntled. I like to think that maybe he started out disgruntled, but now he's moved to dour. Maybe he started as Fan With Misgivings. Then Digruntled, now Dour. Initially, I was playing it more as Distraught Fan, but then they told me to dial back on the despair. I'm not angry so much as kind of permanently grumpy. But I could totally see this guy turning into Angry Fan. Or even Enraged Fan. It's something to think about for the sequel."
Patrick McDade: "The Turk"
"He's the Turk. I mean, what more can you say about him? I assume he's Turkish."
Tony Luke Jr.: "Cape-Clad Fan"
"This guy's a real fanatic. He puts the 'fan' in 'fanatic,' is how I like to say it. Does he think he has superpowers? Maybe. That's something I was playing with. When I read the character, I thought, 'Okay, clearly he's really into this cape. But why?' And I kind of crafted a backstory from there. He's from another planet. Our gravity doesn't affect him. He can see through women's clothes. He keeps his powers under wraps. He loves the cape, though, and wears it to football games because there, no one asks questions."
Mark Simms: "Weekend Warrior"
"Work hard, play hard. That's this guy. Just a total party-hearty kind of fellow. Loves his friends, loves his football, maybe not crazy about his job, maybe considers suicide now and again. But for the most part, just working for the weekend. You know, like anyone."
Frank Ferrara: "Tryout Hopeful"
"What I did is I thought to myself, 'What's this guy's story?' Sure, the movie Invincible is about the guy that Mark Wahlberg is playing, who tries out and makes the team against all odds. But that's that guy's movie. What's this guy's movie? I think maybe it's called Vincible. And I think maybe his name is Vince."
Bryan Donoghue: "Hopeful"
"My character's not just hopeful about the tryout. He's pretty much an optimist about everything."
Merrill Reese: "Voice Of The Eagles #1"
"It was just a real joy to be part of this movie, to be able to play the voice of the Eagles."
Mike Quick: "Voice Of The Eagles #2"
"I couldn't agree more with what Merrill said. I felt the same way. Though it did bother me that my character's called Voice Of The Eagles #2. I mean, you're either the Voice Of The Eagles or you're not. We're not Voices Of The Eagles. No one has two voices, unless he's an impressionist. Or a puppeteer. Personally, I think my guy is really the Voice Of The Eagles. I think the other guy is maybe the voice of the Eagles, the band. Whereas my character really speaks for the Eagles. And I don't mean just the football players. I mean all eagles, everywhere. Soaring."
