How aggressively is Desperate Housewives fever sweeping the nation? Well, with sufficient aggression that Housewives-related events that didn't happen are considered to be newsworthy. For instance, the wire services picked up a story last week about actress Sela Ward, who announced that she had been offered the role of Susan Mayer, which eventually went to Teri Hatcher. Ward vented her rue -- her rue, we tell you! -- to have been so close to a fabulous opportunity and blown it off.
