When Stars Split: The Methodology

When you're a fully-fledged celebrity, doing nothing in your spare time but appearing on talk shows and soaking up free champagne at movie premieres, it stands to reason that the only people you ever meet are other celebrities. Hence: The All-Celebrity Hook-up, which very often makes a successful transition to The All-Celebrity Relationship.

Admittedly, the Jen/Brad split is going to upstage every other celebrity breakup until Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson call it quits. But Chris Klein and Katie Holmes had over a year of betrothed bliss -- and, before that, months of uncommitted dating bliss! Shouldn't we weep for their heartache too? In a word: no. Our scientific Mate Rating system indicates that they were about evenly matched as a couple, so neither of them is carrying much fame or glory to their inevitable next celebrity partnership. Maybe she'll be able to date slightly out of her pay grade -- maybe a Hayden Christensen.
